It was Guelph's first official public appearance since a final stride victory in the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) and the Peter Snowden-trained filly looks to have come back in tremendous order.

Guelph settled last in the 900m heat and staying along the fence, picked her rivals up down the straight, eventually winning by a half head over the Gerald Ryan-trained Charlie Boy in a time of 54.3secs.

Nominated for both the Thousand Guineas and the Cox Plate, Guelph is expected to resume in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on September 7.

13 heats were conducted at Rosehill this morning, the first a 1030m Open trial won by Mrs Onassis.

She is expected to contest the Group 3 Concorde Stakes (1000m) on September 7.

The mare beat Ike's Legacy with Stephen Farley's stable star Sincero finishing third.

Promising three-year-olds Criterion and Drago were each given soft trials in the same heat.

Another head turning trial at Rosehill this morning was that of Sessions winning Heat 6 over 900m.

The next set of metropolitan trial heats are scheduled for Warwick Farm on Friday, August 30.
