UK: St James's Palace target for Glory Awaits

Glory Awaits, who finished best of the rest behind Dawn Approach in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas, is firmly on course for Royal Ascot - and is not for sale, according to trainer Kevin Ryan.

The colt belied his 150-1 odds when finishing second in the Newmarket Classic, and has been the subject of several offers since that performance, but Ryan, who trains him for the A & A Partnership, said on Friday: "There has been quite a lot of interest in him since the 2,000 Guineas, but the owners are keen to race him and he is not for sale."

Ryan added: "He's been fine since Newmarket, where he ran a cracking race. He'll go straight to Royal Ascot now for the St James's Palace Stakes. I couldn't be happier with him."

Glory Awaits was fitted with first-time blinkers in the Guineas, and looks likely to sport the headgear again. "We put them on him just to help his concentration more than anything else. It would be hard to take them off him now," said Ryan.
