Raspberries was uncharacteristically underwhelming last start when finishing down the track in the Rowley Mile behind the Todd Howlett-trained Star Of Octagonal.

The Lonhro mare met a number of the same rivals from that event in this afternoon's $180,000 Listed Scone Cup (1600m) however managed to turn the tables.

It is the second year running trainer Peter Snowden has won his home town Cup with Dysphonia getting the job done in the 2011 renewal.

The leading trainer following this afternoon's Cup victory put the mare in the same category as last years winner who is now under the care of trainer Saeed Bin Suroor.

“She is very honest and probably put her in the same class as Dysphonia,” Snowden said.

“She is a good Group 2/3 mare.

“They are not easy to win and to win your home town cup two years in a row is fantastic.

“The barrier draw made all of the difference. She had been too aggressive in her past two starts. I thought Kerrin [McEvoy] had gone back one pair too many but he knew what he was doing and it was a good result in the end.

“Once she got outside of Snow Alert you could see her pin her ears back and she wanted to win.”

Raspberries latest campaign has seen her contest stakes level races throughout Victoria and New South Wales.

Snowden suggested following her latest victory the Queensland Winter Carnival now beckons the four-year-old.

“We'll more than likely [go to Queensland] now,” Snowden said.

“I'll just see how she pulls up. This is her fifth run this time in. She will tell me what she wants to do.”

Her win in the Scone Cup was her seventh career success from 19 career starts.

Add to that an additional five minor placings and her total prizemoney earnings are now closing in on $500,000.
