Race 1: Divino Cavallo

We saw a promising debut winner in the opener in the R Griffiths & M De Kock-trained Divino Cavallo. Off the back of some nice jump outs there was strong market support race day for the four-year-old Pierro mare, jumping near odds-on. Given an A1 steer by Jessica Eaton, Divino Cavallo peeled off the front pair entering the lane and had ample time to let down with her assault. Admittedly the mare did take some time to build her revs but once knuckling down put a nice gap to them. The gap was widening the further they went as she finished full of running, with the clock backing up the eye as she recorded the fastest last 200m on the card (10.98). She appears to have plenty of upside, and I suggest she will be much better over a longer trip, perhaps stretching to a mile.

In the same race it's also worth mentioning the eye-catching finish of Hurry Love. While I don't have her progressing through her grades as rapidly as Divino Cavallo, I do think she will be getting off the mark sooner rather than later. Settling at the tail of the field (11/11), the Juxebox mare worked home strongly into fourth. If she can settle a fraction closer next start, I'm sure you will prove mighty tough to hold off.
