Rebel King wins 2018 Scenic Blast Stakes Listed $100,000 at Ascot (WA), 1200m.
Darren McAuliffe-trained sprinter Rebel King scored a good first-up win, his tenth win and second at stakes level in 36 starts. He had a good trip in fourth place, one out and one back, moved up well on turning for home, got to the front on passing the 100m and then went on to win well.
Battle Hero was smartly away and went to the front. He then set quite a good pace, got a break at the 200m but could not hold off the winner, whom he conceded 2.5 kg, to take second.
Dainty Tess settled back in second last place in the nine horse field. She was under riding nearing the home turn and made late ground along the inner to take third, staging a sound effort.
