Terry wins 2017 Oaklands Plate Listed $100,000 at Morphettville Parks (SA), 1400m.
David Brideoake-trained colt Terry impressed in advancing from his promising debut win in a Pakenham 2YO Maiden (1200m) on 25 June to take out this Listed race and remain unbeaten in two starts. Again well-supported, starting $3.50 favourite, he did not show much early pace and settled in tenth place on the rails. He was blocked nearing the home turn before getting along the rails in the straight, finishing too well in the closing stages to win narrowly but quite impressively.
Jason Warren-trained filly Kardashing began well, settled in fourth place before moving up nicely nearing the home turn. She looked the winner when she took the lead at the 200m, only to be caught on the post for a very good second.
Tony McEvoy-trained filly Bring Me Roses settled back in third last place in the 14-horse field from her wide barrier (12), was blocked on straightening before being taken deep at the 300m. She then caught the eye with her late-closing third in a very good effort at only her third start.
