Jackpot Prince wins 2017 Belmont Classic Listed $100,000 at Belmont Park (WA), 2200m.
In a three-way finish Jackpot Prince maintained his consistent form in winning his third race from his last four starts in taking out his first stakes success here in good style. He settled at the tail of the 13-horse field, went deep on straightening and then stormed home to grab a narrow but impressive victory.
Persian Princess raced in eighth place, on the rails, got through to fourth on straightening, took the lead at 200 metres only to be caught on the post for a good second.
The favourite Gatting raced in second last place, behind a steady tempo, went deep (under riding) approaching the home turn, put in a good run (wide out) before fighting on well for a close up third.
