Crack Me Up wins 2017 XXXX Sunshine Coast Guineas Group 3 $125,000 at Sunshine Coast (QLD), 1600m.
Liam Birchley-trained three-year-old gelding Crack Me Up put up a smart effort in winning his first Group race here. He began well from his wide barrier (11) and after being fourth early on, went to the front nearing the 800m. He beat off some challengers at the home turn, took a break at the 200m and then went on to score impressively.
My True Love was quickly away from her difficult barrier (15) and after leading early on, eased to race in third place. She was then shuffled back to eighth, improved at the home turn, switched to the inner at the 300m and she kept fighting on well for a really good second.
Godolphin-raced gelding Flow was eighth in the early stages before making a wide move to race outside the leader (Crack Me Up) from the 800m. He then kept battling on in good style to hold the minor placing, putting up a very sound effort.
The favourite Acatour was 11th in the early stages, improved to race in seventh place (wide with cover) but was under pressure at the home turn and the battled on in the straight to finish (3.4 lengths) seventh.
