Kenedna wins 2017 Auraria Stakes Group 3 $120,000 at Morphettville (SA), 1800m.
The Darren Weir-trained filly Kenedna is now the winner of three of her last four starts, all at stakes level. She was eased from her difficult barrier (14) and settled back in 12th place, on the rails, before improving nicely (between runners) from the 600m. She angled for a run on straightening, got a split at the 150m and finished far too well to score impressively.
With A Bit Of Dash settled in fifth place on the rails from her inside barrier (1) before tracking though on the inner to take the lead at the 200m. She then battled on quite well for second, having no chance with the winner in the closing stages.
Sebring Dream was ridden quietly and raced near the tail of the field. She improved (wide with cover) from the 700m, fanned wide rounding the home turn and then ran on solidly to take a good third in a promising effort.
