Cosmic Storm wins 2016 Crown - Jungle Mist Classic Listed $100,000 at Ascot (WA) 3yo+Fillies & Mares, 1200m.
Lightly raced five-year-old mare Cosmic Storm resumed from a ten months break to take her record to five wins from only 11 starts with her first stakes success here. She was ridden quietly from her good barrier (2) and settled in tenth place before improving (wide with cover) from the 700m. She switched out on straightening and came with a strong late run to grab a very good win in a most impressive effort.
Meteoroid was a handy fourth, got a split to challenge on passing the 200m only to be headed in the last few strides for second after briefly getting to the front at the 50m.
Distant Memory raced outside the leader (She Rules All), got to the front at the 100m and then held on for a close up third after running a bold race.
The favourite Jestajingle was fourth early on, moved up (wide without cover) from the 700m, was in a challenging position at the 200m and then kept fighting on for sound (1.8 lengths) fourth.
