Raw Impulse wins 2016 Penang Trophy (Tokyo City Cup) Listed $100,000 at Morphettville (SA) 3yo+, 1800m.
The field jumped evenly and Raw Impulse from barrier five took up a handy spot in fifth, off the rails, heading down the back. From the 800m he remained in fifth but was gaining on the leading group and was camped in behind them just before straightening. As the field lined up for the run home, Raw Impulse grabbed the lead and soon after shot clear. Passing the 200m he was well clear and ran right away, easing down to score by a wide margin.
Dandy Gent was fourth on the winner's inner around the bend but was not able to accelerate when the pressure went on at the top of the straight. He ran past the tiring runners over the last 150m to stay on, well beaten, for second.
Yulong Baby was second last on the fence just before the home straight then ran on down on the inner, lasting best of the rest.
