Tris wins 2016 Campolina Stud Breeders’ Stks Group 3 $120,000 at Morphettville (SA) 2yo, 1200m.
Tris jumped well from her handy barrier two yet took a while to assume a narrow lead as the field passed the 800m. Maintaining a half length over the field, one width off the rail, she turned in travelling comfortably. Her rider, Dylan Dunn, urged the filly on and she stretched the lead to more than a length at the 200m and that margin was enough to see her to the line.
Ariaz was third rounding the bend (three out), drifted wider into the straight then settled down to chase the winner but never really had a chance, holding on well for second.
Before the home turn Smart Manoeuvre was second last and into the straight was widest of all. She took a few strides to balance then ran home well but had no chance with the winner. Fillies filled the first three places.
