Thyme For Roses wins 2016 Tbv Thoroughbred Breeders Stks Group 3 $150,000 at Flemington (VIC) 2yoFillies, 1200m.
All nine runners headed for the grandstand side of the course where Thyme For Roses, nearest the outside, took up the running from barrier five. Jockey Ben Melham sat very quietly on the filly past the crossing and down to the 300m when he felt some pressure from behind then gave her a kick and she responded well, lengthening stride inside the 200m and ultimately breaking well clear with a hundred to go for convincing win, her second in four starts.
Emphatically tracked the winner down to the 400m then found a split to issue her challenge. She was unable to match the winner's acceleration but kept on, making a late lunge at the line to grab second yet well beaten.
Soviet Secret was last (outer) nearing the 400m but made a good move to be handier passing the 200m, then surged over the last bit to grab third from a fading Selenia (4th).
