Buffering wins 2015 Crown Perth-Winterbottom Stks Group 1 $1 Million at Ascot (WA) 3yo+, 1200m.
Buffering won his sixth Group One in taking this race out for the second time, having won it in 2013. He was smartly away, worked to share the lead before crossing to the front at the 600m. He got a break on turning for home and then fought back gamely for a very good win.
Watermans Bay was beyond midfield, between runners. He angled deep and into clear running on straightening and then put in a strong run, getting to second at the 100m and battled well for second, in a smart performance.
Fast 'N' Rocking was eighth, between runners, to the home turn. He got a split at the 200m and finished well to grab a good third.
Outsider Madassa showed pace from a wide barrier (12), was outside the leader (Buffering) from the 600m and fought surprisingly well to dead-heat for fourth with Silverstream, who made ground from 12th at the home turn.
Shining Knight also made good late ground for sixth while the three-year-old Lucky Street was handy to the leaders, moved up wide at the home turn and battled quite well for (2.8 lengths) seventh.
