The Quarterback was ridden quietly as usual and settled back in second last place in the 15-horse field, racing on the Grandstand side. He went to the outside rail on passing the 300m and stormed home from that point to hit the front nearing the post to score a strong win.
Wild Rain went to the rails side and raced close to the lead in that group, looked the winner when she grabbed a break at the 100m but was overhauled approaching the post for a very good second.
Office Bearer was a handy fourth on the Grandstand side, took the lead (on that side) at the 100m and fought well for a good third.
