No More Tears wins 2015 H Plumley Jnr Soliloquy Stakes Listed NZ$50,000 at Ellerslie (NZ) 3yoFillies, 1400m.
Despite drawing widest, No More Tears, had no difficulty getting handy although one off the rails early, and passing the 1000 metres momentarily disputed the pace before allowing the leader, Untamed Diamond, to lead. The field fanned wide for better going as they straightened and No More Tears gained the upper hand. Past the 200 metres, she edged clear and then had to withstand challenges on her inner and outer but was going too well and held on to win by three quarters of a length.
High Class tracked the winner past the 800 metres, one out and one back but had to go wider to make her run and ran about a little before settling down to challenge. She tried hard but the winner had established too big a break and the line came up first but it was the effort of a stayer.
Favourite Secret Spirit, attempting five straight stakes wins, was locked away on the rails turning in and appeared to be full of running at the 200 metres but couldn’t bridge the gap for a fair third.
