Stay With Me wins 2015 1000 Guineas Group 1 $500,000 at Caulfield (VIC) 3yoFillies, 1600m.
Stay With Me was ridden patiently by Dwayne Dunn and settled near last in the 11-horse field following a strong pace. She was still well back as she commenced to improve along the rails from the 600m, going through to fifth on straightening. She dashed to the front at the 100m and then drew away to score impressively. She looks suited to further and appears to have strong claims for the upcoming VRC Oaks (Gr 1, 2500m).
Jameka also raced well back in the field. She improved to eighth (widest of all) at the home turn and then ran on well for a very good second.
Badawiya was back about seven lengths in third place, chasing a strong pace. She made ground rounding the home turn and then fought gamely for a very good third.
Favourite Pasadena Girl was back in eighth place, made a wide move (under riding) to improve at the 600m and kept battling on well in the straight for (3.5 lengths) sound fourth.
Take Pride went to the front and ran along at a fast pace from the 1200m setting up a big lead. She was only overtaken on passing the 200m and did very well in holding on to finish (3.7 lengths) fifth at her first attempt at 1600m, especially after going at such a strong pace.
