Escado wins 2015 Carlton Draught Tatt’s Cup Group 3 $200,000 at Gold Coast (QLD), 2400m.
Escado broke through here for his first win since taking out the 2013 SA Derby (Gr 1, 2500m). He travelled nicely in fourth place, one out and one back, before improving coming to the home turn. He took the lead on straightening and fought back well for a narrow but good win.
Shoreham settled near last, wide with cover. He improved between runners at the home turn, got through to third at the 200m and then kept finishing well for second, putting up a sound effort at his first start for new trainer Gerald Ryan.
Favourite Epingle settled back in tenth place. She moved up well (wide with cover) at the 600m and challenged at the 200m. She then kept battling on well under her top weight (59kg) for a good third.
Banca Mo was sixth, between runners, to the 600m. He was under pressure from the 300m and got through to third at the 200m before battling on for (1.4 lengths) fourth.
