Strawberry Boy wins 2015 Programmed Lord Mayor’s Cup Group 3 $125,000 at Doomben (QLD), 1600m.
Strawberry Boy, having his third run this preparation, returned to form with an easy win here. He soon crossed to the lead and then ran along at quite a good pace before increasing his lead on passing the 600m. He was well clear at the 200m and then went to the post for a very comfortable win.
Lucky Lago was ridden quietly from her inside barrier (1) and settled in eighth place on the rails. She stuck to the inside and made ground rounding the home turn going along the rails to second at the 200m. She then battled on quite well to hold that position, having no chance with the winner.
I'm Imposing travelled well in fifth place on the rails. He switched between runners at the home turn, but was under riding from that point. He then gradually made ground, without threatening, to take third.
