Chantski put up a good effort to score. She was smartly away and worked close to the pace most of the way and then moved up strongly on turning for home. She took the lead at the 200m and then fought back gamely for a good win.
Mystic Maid was fifth on the rails, following a good tempo. She switched out at the 200m, challenged at the 100m and fought on well for a good second, just finding the winner a bit too strong.
Showy Chloe was seventh (wide with cover) put in a run from the 300m, challenged nearing the 200m and fought on for a close-up third.
The favourite Military Reign was a bit slow to move, made a quick early run (wide) to take the lead at the 600m. She then held on quite well, after her early efforts, to finish (1.5 lengths) fourth, which was her first defeat in three starts.
