Amexed kept the rough results coming at Doomben with a narrow win in the Rough Habit Plate.
Amexed was ridden patiently by Michael Rodd and settled ninth on the rails from his good barrier (3).
He switched between runners at the 600m and moved up nicely (wide) coming to the turn. He challenged at the 200m and then fought gamely for a narrow but soft win at the post.
The New Zealand filly Telepathic was back in tenth place until passing the 800m. She was asked to improve at the 600m, fanned deep rounding the turn and challenged strongly at the 100m. She then kept fighting on gamely for a sound (long neck) second at her Australian debut.
Another NZ-trained three-year-old Glorious Lad finished third after being a handy fourth on the rails to the turn. He put in a run at the 200m and then held on to take the minor placing.
Vilanova was seventh on the rails, got a good run through to take a narrow lead at the 200m before finishing (2.2 lengths) fourth.
Rudy did very well to hold on for (3.2 lengths) fifth after being trapped wide throughout while the favourite Pheidon, raced outside the leader to the turn, got to the front briefly on straightening before finishing (3.7 lengths) sixth.
