Victorian galloper Road Trippin' proved too classy to claim the Thomas Lyons Stakes.
Road Trippin’ ($3 fav) was smartly away from his inside barrier (1) and raced behind the leader (Bishop’s Castle) before getting a rails run on straightening.
He took the lead and the 200m and battled on to score well by three quarters of a length.
Jakcorijim raced in fourth place, but wide without cover most of the way to the home turn. He then finished well in the closing stages for a good second after his early efforts.
The well-performed local mare Rebel Bride was a handy fourth to the turn, challenged at the 200m and ran her usual honest race for a sound third.
Bishop’s Castle led the field until half-way down the straight and fought on nicely for a close-up fourth.
