Rebel Bride proved too good winning the Tattsbet.com Stakes at Launceston on Wednesday night.
The classy Tasmanian mare recorded her 13th win in 27 starts with another game victory.
Rebel Bride began very quickly from her outside barrier in the small five-horse field, going immediately to the lead. She was then able to steady the early pace before being strongly challenged nearing the home turn. She pinched a break half way down the straight and then just lasted to win in a photo.
Black ‘n’ Tough ($2.80 second favourite) raced outside her stablemate, the leader and eventual winner Rebel Bride most of the way. She put pressure on her rival from the 700m, briefly looked beaten at the 200m and then rallied to just miss for a very good second.
Mister John settled in fourth place on the rails, got through on the rails after turning for home and battled on the take the minor placing.
The NSW visitor Youthful Jack was perfectly placed in third spot, one off the rails. But he proved disappointing in the straight, just holding on for fourth, beaten two lengths.
Outsider of the field Too Many Reds was last most of the way.
