Wyong Magic Millions 2yo Classic, December 19

Unencumbered proved far too good at Wyong grabbing his third win from four starts.

Unencumbered was eased from the barrier and settled at the tail of the small six-horse field, following a good tempo. He was giving the leader about six lengths when Nathan Berry asked him to improve approaching the 600m.

He moved up stylishly coming to the turn, took a split between the two wayward leaders veering wide at the bend, went to the front at the 100m and was easing down nearing the post for a soft win.

The Victorian colt Geromayo raced outside the leader Sheer Style, challenged that filly coming to the turn but both hung out rounding the bend, Geromayo drifting to the centre of the track half-way down the straight. But he came again quite well in the closing stages for a sound second.

Sheer Style ($1.85 fav) went to the lead, hung out at the home turn and then tired from the 100m for third, beaten length and half.
