Aeronautical proved too good in the last on the program at Randwick.
Aeronautical was slowly away from barrier two and was last early.
He improved to be seventh on the rails and continued to save ground on the inside to be fourth on straightening. He looked to be under pressure at the 200m but responded late, coming along the rails to score by a neck. It was quite a good effort and an excellent ride by Hugh Bowman.
Heart Testa ($3) was a handy third before moving up three deep rounding the home turn. He looked the winner when he took the lead at the 200m but could not hold off the late-closing winner, beaten a neck to finish second.
Pampelonne got a good run from barrier three and raced behind the leader on the rails most of the way to the turn. He moved through on the inside to take the lead on turning for home and kept fighting on well for a close third.
Ollie Vollie ($41) made ground in the centre, coming from ninth at the turn, to just get up to take fourth, narrowly in advance of Zaratone who led the field to the home turn before finishing fifth, beaten just over two lengths.
Straight Albert ($81) made ground late for sixth while Jacquinot Bay again made good late ground after being last at the home turn to finish seventh, beaten three lengths.
