Gran Torino In Drivers Seat For Kranji Win

Gran Torino shapes up as a best of the day at Kranji when he lines up in the Class 4 over 1200m, the final race of the day.

The former Australian runner claimed victory in his Singapore debut, beating the very useful Dutrow, before going on to run second in a Class 4 behind Sun Dream last start.

Gran Torino did not have a great deal of luck on that occasion when finding trouble early in the race but still did a terrific job to finish runner up to a very good one in Sun Dream.

Has been given almost a month between runs, winning a recent barrier trial over the 1000m which should having him ready to fire today.

Lightly raced with just the four starts to his name, Gran Torino is likely to have plenty of improvement to come and from barrier 7 should look to settle just off the pace once again.

Gran Torino rates very well against his rivals today on what he has produced to date and certainly looks the one they all have to beat today.

Despite both runs in Singapore coming on the Polytrack, his two outings in Adelaide show he is more than capable on the turf and with even luck expect him to return to the winners circle.

Satellite Man looks the main danger and should appreciate getting back on the turf for this.

Comes out of the same race as Gran Torino last start when finishing down the track in eighth, off a solid enough effort in the Benchmark 67 the start prior.

Satellite Man does his best racing on the turf having put two wins together last campaign and from barrier 4 today should get a very nice run up on the speed.

Manoel Nunes takes the ride for the first time today and having run second in a recent barrier trial over 1000m, he certainly shapes up as a big contender today.

Montaigne returns having not raced since running fourth in a class 4 back in June but has trialled twice in recent times.

Finished third in his most recent trial behind Gran Torino and has shown enough since coming to Singapore that he is capable of mixing it in these types of races.

The stable has been in very good form of late and from the wide draw would expect John Powell to push forward to lead.

Runs well over the 1200m journey and although he may need the run he will take plenty of running down in this.

Good luck!
