Cliff Brown Sprinter To Show Speed At Kranji

Kratos will look to build on his strong recent form when he lines up in the Class 3 Handicap over 1000m on the Polytrack at Kranji on Friday night.

The Cliff Brown-trained runner returned off a lengthy spell to win a Class 4 last start, leading all the way from barrier 5 to claim victory in the 1000m dash by a narrow margin over Silkino in second with Cairo third.

Drawn slightly out today, Kratos who is a very speedy type will push forward again to take up the lead and his form last campaign was very consistent, featuring in the placings all five starts which included a win prior to a spell.

With only seven starts to his name, the four-year-old gelding has featured in the placings on six occasions, both wins coming over the 1000m trip on the Polytrack.

Barend Vorster goes back on board having ridden Kratos on one previous occasion when runner up last campaign and he will roll forward again today and take a power of running down.

Splinter shapes up as a big danger on the back of his current form and was not far away over the 1200m in a Kranji Class C behind Lim’s Shot last start.

That came on the back of a good win two starts back in a Class 4 over 1100m and he has run similar figures his last three outings which certainly bring him into this.

The drop back to the 1000m is a slight concern having not run over the trip previously and appears a bit better suited over a bit more ground.

Drawn out wide it is hard to see him having enough early speed to put himself in the race and he is likely to settle in the second half.

The son of Dream Ahead will be making good ground late and if he can get some luck in running and not settle to far away he is right up to winning a race like this.

Red Dawn comes off two second placings on the Polytrack, the most recent over the 1000m trip and his recent form certainly brings him into this.

Rates well off his narrow second placing over the 1200m behind Mr Luck two starts back and does have a win over the 1000m trip to his name previously.

Another that has drawn wide and will need a bit of luck in the run but he should give big sight off recent form and be right in the mix of this.

Unsurpassed rounds out the main chances off a narrow last start win in a Class 4 but has mixed his recent form and will need to show improvement again to be winning against some of these.

Good Luck!
