The Melbourne Mail - November 19

The carnival leaves town and heads for the countryside with Ballarat's Cup meeting standing alone this weekend.

Duibio can win the last on Ballarat Cup Day Picture: Racing and Sports

The Ballarat Cup itself is about as wide open as races get, a true '$10 the field' job, so we will look elsewhere to zone in on a bet of the day.

The last is an interesting race with they key runner Duibio making good appeal on the back of his first up run. He was strong to the line first up at 1100m in a race that returned a high rating for the class and has produced a trio of subsequent winners as a result.

Duibio's effort to close to within a neck of the winner Chase The Horizon was very good and now he goes up from 1100m to 1400m which should give him a chance to coil up and let rip at what should be a strong tempo with Glenrowan Prince and Take Pride pressing on from out wide early.

Prices better than the $3.00 mark look well worth snapping up.

For an each way play we'll look to the wide open Cup and we're happy to have a run at Nozomi who gets beyond 2000m for the first time since he was placed in the 2014 VRC Derby.

He beat Preferment over today's trip of 2200m prior to that Derby run and he arrives off a really good effort at Flemington last time behind a potentially smart one in Little White Cloud.

This is a step up in class but his rating from that latest effort has him right in the game and we think he is well worth having on side.
