It is Lightning Stakes day but we’ve gone elsewhere for our plays on the Morphettville card.
After being scratched from Bendigo on Wednesday, Conwell heads to Morphettville coming off a strong maiden win.
She wound up from near last to grab them on the line at Echuca. Now with a further 200m to travel, she can wind up the centre and prove hard to hold out.
Bred to want a mile or even further, the filly has found only an even three year old race and Darren Weir must always be respected heading to Adelaide.
Even though only having raced on good tracks, doubt she will have any dramas on a softer surface either.
For the value, why can’t Whitlam run another top race fresh up.
The gelding resumes after racing in stronger sprints over the summer period which included a win in the Listed City Of Marion Stakes.
He loves the main Morphettville track, goes well first up and handles any type of going.
Well placed only 4.5kg over the original limit, he always goes around at odds where you can play him each way and be a good hope of some return.
