Best From The West - May 30

The Adam Durrant trained Bonny Zara returned in great order last start and can break back into the winner's stall in the third event on Saturday.

Only lightly raced the daughter of Saxon continued to raise the bar last preparation despite only saluting the judge once.

A beaten favourite on three occasions last time in, she has tested our patience, however she strikes a very winnable race on Saturday and appears over the odds at her current quote of 2-1.

Using Timeform weight adjusted ratings Bonny Zara's first up performance was marked six pounds below her best, yet still sees her rated clear.

She is yet to miss the money racing second up and appears set to relish the step up to the mile.

In nine attempts at Belmont she has only missed the money twice and appears very well placed with the aid of "Smoking" Joe Azzopardi's claim.

Main market danger Bradford Badboy gets the bar plates back on, which is obviously concerning and helps to swing the race firmly in Bonny Zara's favour.

If priced aggressively we have her marked the even money favourite and more than happy to take the current price on offer.

With the scratching of Luckygray, the Belmont Sprint appears all but at Fuchsia Bandana's mercy.

An alarming drifter first up, the daughter of Trade Fair still performed very well, when only narrowly beaten in the Group 3 Roma Cup.

Marked eight pounds below her best, Fuchsia Bandana is clearly open to further improvement and is unbeaten racing second up from three attempts.

She is yet to miss the money over this trip and has placed in three of five attempts at Belmont.

From the middle draw she appears to get all the favours and find the front, with the Vaughn Sigley trained Dawn Approach hotly on her heels.

The latter is racing in great heart, but has been up for some time now and while not showing signs of tapering off, happy to stick with the fresh horse on the scene.

Fuchsia Bandana's form through both the Railway Stakes and Kingston Town Stakes sees her very well placed and expect her to return to winning form.

Installed the 6-4 favourite may seem short enough, however we had her marked that price with Luckygray in the field.

At her best she holds a distinct class edge and should prove very hard to beat.
