Say From SA - May 2

There are two G1 races at Morphettville this Saturday along with a support card of other black type events.

Avoid Lightning is a mighty little mare Picture: Racing and Sports

They are great betting events and one where we can hopefully find some nice value.

Assuming the track will have just a little give in it, love the prospects of Avoid Lightning in the Sangster for the mares.

She was so brave toughing it out on speed in the Sapphire Stakes in the last race on Day 2 of The Championships.

There is no doubt she needs a track which isn’t too firm but Les Bridge sure knows how to train a mare that holds its form and she is just that.

You only have to go back to her run in the Tatts Tiara at G1 back in June last year to see she is up to this company. Coming from midfield she rattled down the centre and would have won in another 50m.

That race included the likes of Cosmic Endeavour, Catkins, Steps In Time, Red Tracer and Driefontein - all of whom have been mighty contenders in big mares races during the last few seasons.

Tim Clark loves her too much like he did with Hot Danish. Definitely toss Sabatini into the multiples though. One of only two fillies in the race and has top credentials.

With Velox running here and not at Caulfield, it will be very hard to beat and is the best of the day.

This is an imported galloper for Lindsay Park who have a history of giving their introduced gallopers a run in Adelaide to get them used to Australian racing. They did it successfully with Jeune and Tawqeet to name a couple.

However this horse is more of a miler and has some very sound credentials coming out of races like the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket.

He would only need to be in the right frame of mind to be making a big challenge in this race.
