Furbish, the Allan Denham trained two year old from last season that did all his racing in Queensland over the winter carnival, is primed to resume at Scone on Tuesday.
He goes into his 1100m race without a trial but Denham is happy with his progress.
“I wouldn’t be sending him up there if I wasn’t happy with him,” Denham said. “He spelled well but I wouldn’t say he has developed any further.
“He is just the same.
“There are no specific plans, we will just see what happens first.”
Furbish, owned by the White family, won his first two races at Eagle Farm in April over 1000 metres and 1300 metres then tackled three Group races over the carnival.
He finished eighth in both the Group Two Champagne (1200m) and Group Two Sires Produce (1350m) at Doomben then went back to Eagle Farm where he came from last on the turn to finish seventh in the Group One J J Atkins over 1600 metres on June 7.
Robert Thompson rides Furbish for the first time and with a racing pattern of getting well back in the early part of his races the horse is going to appreciate the big Scone track and the long straight.
This race is chock full of interest with Bart and James Cummings starting Yurrapendi (Hannah Martin), one of two horses they are sending to the meeting.
This is one of the rare occasions the stable has had runners at Scone outside carnival time.
Yurrapendi comes into this race on the back of a last start third at Canberra and she is also a horse that gets well back in her races.
The Cummings stable will produce a ready made stayer with ability in four year old Midas which has only his second start in the Prydes Easifeed Class One and Maiden (1600m).
The New Zealand bred son of High Chaparral ran an enormous race when fourth over 1400 metres on debut at Canberra on October 10.
He was a clear last early, 12th at the 800 metres and 11th at the turn and flew home to finish fourth beaten only 1.3 lengths.
Jeff Penza had the ride in that race and is back aboard again tomorrow.
The other interesting runner in that race is the top weight Fraajmahal which was impressive in winning a 1500 metre maiden at Port Macquarie at the beginning of this month.
He is a New Zealand bred five year old that has only had three starts and is by young New Zealand based sire Iffraaj, the champion second season sire there for last season and leading sire of two year olds this season.
