RACE 1 (5) PRESS REPORT: Very rarely will you see a 10kg weight differential between two horses from one start to the next, but that is the handicapping anomaly that will tease punters in this race. Press Report was beaten 7.3 lengths by Liberation over 1200m at Rosehill on July 19 carrying 57kg and conceding 3kg to the winner. He now drops to 50kg with the advantage of Winona Costin’s claim while Liberation rises 3kg to 57kg. Press Report showed high potential against classy rivals in the autumn and was an impressive trial winner prior to resuming on July 19 when he was in all sorts of trouble in the run. He will be a big improver here, and not just because of the massive weight shift in his favour.

RACE 5 (6) HE’S YOUR MAN: Chris Waller knows his imports and I am willing to gamble that this race fits his program despite a four weeks break without a trial since an impressive first-up third in the Civic Stakes over 1350m at this course on July 5. On that occasion he had confident backing after two strong trials and really took the eye when he wound up late behind Generalife and Bennetta and that form rates highly in this field. Got better with every run in Melbourne last campaign and should find the step up to 1500m most suitable at this stage of his preparation.

RACE 6 (12) WORLDLY IMPACT: Close to a win after two excellent efforts since resuming. He had no luck getting a run when resuming at Kembla Grange and last start got too far back after missing the kick before running home strongly for fifth behind Rifleman over 1000m at Randwick on July 12. This field is no stronger and he appeals as a good gamble at his early odds as his inside draw is a big plus from the 1100m start and he is favourably handicapped getting weight off most rivals.
