Once more we face the prospects of a Morphettville track which can’t take a break and looks like being in the affected area again.
Cox Plate winning rider and now talented trainer Patrick Payne looks to have a nice 3yo in the shape of Percy On Parade.
He was scratched from Cranbourne on Thursday for this and getting to the 1800m should be exactly what he needs being by Sir Percy.
Working to the line stylishly, he still did a few things wrong and yet got up by half a length at Warrnambool on a heavy track. Any conditions which have the cut out of the ground should just be perfect then in Adelaide.
We can get a great price with some other profile stables with entries but Payne has been having a real trot lately, both on the flat and over the sticks.
After a very long prep and then a year off, Baremin can use her first up third at Sandown as a spring board for this weaker Morphettville race.
She was last into the straight and while some way back, got into third over the 1200m. Should the track stay slow, that would make it a test and she is bred to want a mile.
Drawn off the track she will get back as usual so just hoping they can run on which has been an issue in recent times here but does look value.
Pistolier was hard in the betting last week but part of that was that a well backed commodity was taken out at the gates.
He runs again on a quick back up after a month off and has done that well before so will have admirers.
However he’s up half a kilo for a 5.5L defeat and never looked a prospect in that. 1200m may suit more but he has plenty of rivals going as well if not better.
