RANDWICK SATURDAY

RACE 4 (3) AGADIR: Highly thought of Darley three-year-old was set a big task when sent to Brisbane to take on the G2 Queensland Guineas first-up on the strength of a strong trial win in May. He was beaten only five lengths after a tough run and with three weeks to get over the trip he is well placed to improve sharply in this much easier class when assessed on the potential he showed to win three of his first five starts earlier in the season. He’s a talent with a bright future.

RACE 7 (7) SIR BERUS: Ready to peak after four solid efforts carrying much higher weights in shorter races since resuming. This is his pet trip and the move to utilise boom apprentice Taylor Marshall’s 3kg claim sees him drop a handy 3.5kg from his good fifth on an unsuitable slow track at Rosehill last Saturday when he finished off nicely behind Generalife. Boasts an excellent record when he’s on a quick back up and gets his chance here carrying 1kg under the limit.

RACE 8 (11) OAKFIELD COMMANDS: Expecting a bold showing from this consistent sprinter at his first outing for new trainer Gerald Ryan over a course and distance where’s he’s unbeaten in two starts. Goes well fresh so it’s no concern that he’s had six weeks since an unlucky first-up second over 1200m at Rosehill under 58kg. He’s an excellent value chance in this open field dropping 6kg on a track where he’s never a missed a place
