58th Sprinters Stakes at Nakayama Sunday

Damian's Dash

Australian jockey Damian Lane has dashed to Japan to ride the dashing Satono Reve in the Sprinters Stakes.

There are five foreign born jockeys in the race – foreign born so they can include Christophe Lemaire who is based in Japan, and as well as Christophe and Damian Brazilian Joao Moreira will ride the Hong Kong runner Victor the Winner and Mauritian Karis Teetan will ride the other Hong Kong runner Mugen, and German jockey Andrash Starke also has a mount in the race.

Satono Reve will start favourite following his recent win in the G3 Keeneland Cup at Sapporo which we were lucky enough to see.  He's on 3.1 and we agree with the Morning Line here but are going a little away from their order in adding Mama Cocha, the ride of Yuji Kawada, on 7.0 as she has the female's weight allowance.  Then Toshin Macau who won the Centaur recently is on 9.7 which we find generous despite the fact that the same horse rarely wins both races and then our top roughie is the Hong Kong runner Mugen – he's been improving with every run and trainer Pierre Ng will have him just right for this and how could you resist 40.2!!  The other Hong Kong runner Victor the Winner is more fancied on 14.1 and having Moreira on board is certainly a plus but let's have some fun with this race which should be a beauty!
