Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts

R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.

SELECTIONS

Hawkesbury Race 4 - 1 Kuro

Returns to his original trainer Joe Pride after a stay with the Freedmans in Melbourne and expecting a bold fresh showing after a strong trial win at this course on April 18.

He’s the class act in this field, being a G1-placed multiple stakes winner, and has the right draw to camp on a certain hot pace and run home over the top of them down the long Hawkesbury straight.

Hawkesbury Race 8 - 10 Denmagic

Talented filly is taking on the colts but rates highly with the weights in her favour after her strong efforts in Group company over the carnival.

Last time out she found the line gamely from the back at only her second start over 1400m in the G3 James Carr at Randwick when the leaders got all the favours. She will get her chance here with genuine pace.

Hawkesbury Race 9 - 9 Trafalgar

This race provides another ideal step for this promising 3YO as he builds towards the Brisbane carnival.

Recorded his third win in only five starts when he resumed with a strong victory over 1300m at Warwick Farm and can only be better over this longer trip with the benefit of that run behind him.

BLACKBOOK UPDATE from 23 April (Rosehill & Caulfield)

Oh So Unfair - Had to be ridden for luck. Would have gone close with a clear run.

Unequivocal - Luckless in a leader dominated race.

Zedfast - Found the line from a hopeless position. Going well.

Grunderzeit - Will take plenty of benefit from this strong return.

Bantry Bay - Another good import set to make his mark.

Divine Mr Artie - Never got a crack. Total forgive.

Recent Blackbook winners - Unequivocal; He Or She; Peeping; Good Offa, The Special Two; Tarzino; The United States; Ungrateful Ellen; Tarquin; Velox; Yankee Rose; Too Good To Refuse; Hetty Heights; Don’t Doubt Mamma; Lady Le Fay.
