When Father knows best

Last weekend in Europe we saw a husband and wife quinella a G1 in Paris

And in Japan we saw a father finish ahead of his son in a G2 in Tokyo.  The father Yasunori Iwata finished second on Ho O Biscuits in the Mainichi Oken and the son Mirai Iwata was back in seventh.  The winner was Sixpence, who has gone up in value from that price by quite a bit we imagine.  Elton Barrows was third in that race.

In Kyoto the Daishoten saw Chevalier Rose win on 22.5 ahead of Deep Bond 9.9 and Meisho Brequet who was by far the biggest outsider in the field on 154.4!

On the Saturday the G3 Saudi Arabia Cup went to Arte Veloce 3.5 from Taisei Current on 12.9.

No luck in Paris for Shin Emperor – he certainly did not seem to like the very soft going in the Arc and he was quite keen early in the race which may have caused his flat finish.  He could try again next year as he's only three.

The husband and wife who rode a G1 quinella were Tom Marquand and Hollie Doyle, both of whom are well known in Japan, and the race was the Prix de l'Abbaye.
