Thursday means Gold Cup day at Ascot

No Yeats this year in the race but there's a nice statue of him just been unveiled. Can another horse beat his four wins in the race?

The Norfolk Stakes leads off with 21 two year olds charging down the 1000m straight. American raider

Everyday Dave is reported to be very fast and he's 9/2, and again it's the pin's choices here and that

gives us Frederick Engels at 15/2, Silverheels at 10/1 and Burwaaz 20/1.

The Ribblesdale G2 is for 3yo fillies over 2400m. Godolphin's Rumh is favoured at 11/4, but if Zain Al

Boldan would settle he could be the go, and is at 13/2. HIghest is also in this at 7/1.

And the Cup itself - a great staying race over 4000m and there's a few old favourites back for this.

Kasbah Bliss loves to run all day and he's shown already this season that he's happy to continue so we

think 12/1 is value. Manighar, Luca Cumani's Melbourne cup runner, ran nicely if not brilliantly on his

return to UK racing but Luca would have been setting him for this. Fame and Glory is the favourite but

we have some reservations and not too sure about the 7/4. Duncan is dour and 5/1 looks about right -

William Buick to ride for Gosden, and we cannot leave out Andre Fabre's runner Brigantin, who won at

his last outing in France and the stable is in top form.

The Tercentenary Stakes (a.k.a. Hampton Court) G3 over 2000m for the 3yos has Tazahum at 11/2,

Lajooj at 13/2 with Mikael Barzalona riding for Al Zarooni, and Moriarty at 7/1.
