It was a straight forward task for the Karl Burke-trained Caviar Heights, who remained poised for action in behind the early pacesetters Whip Cracker and Sayedaty Sadaty. He cruised to the lead under a confident ride from Clifford Lee with two furlongs to go and kicked clear, pulling clear for a victory.

A son of Sea The Stars, Caviar Heights took three starts to get on the scoresheet as a juvenile, taking a Goodwood maiden in September with previous trainer Andrew Balding. He returned after the winter break with a third in the Listed Feilden Stakes for new trainer Karl Burke at 50/1.

"He definitely came on for his run in the Feilden, when we were delighted with the run," said Burke.

"He was relishing a step up in trip and the extra furlong has helped today. Cliff (jockey) says he will stay further.

"I am not sure where we'll go with him next. I'll speak to Sheikh Obaid. He is in the Dante but I'm not sure Sheikh Obaid will want to go there as it comes pretty quick and he doesn't like to run his horses close together. He has a good constitution – all he does is eat and sleep.

"There are no big thoughts about the Derby yet – I'll have to speak to Sheikh Obaid and see."

Paddy Power reacted to the win by shortening Caviar Heights from 100/1 to 33/1 for the Epsom Derby.
