James Fanshawe mapping out Ascot title defence for The Tin Man

James Fanshawe is preparing The Tin Man for his defence of the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in June.

The Newmarket trainer reports the six-year-old to be in fine fettle following a frustrating trip to the Far East in December, when he had to miss the Hong Kong Sprint after contracting a fever.

Fanshawe has yet to finalise where to run The Tin Man before the Royal meeting. Last year he took in the Duke Of York Stakes in May, but the Group Two sprint on the Knavesmire is only a possibility at this stage.

"He looks grand and has had a nice break after Hong Kong. He's in good form," said Fanshawe.

"We've got to work out a way of getting to Ascot again. That's the plan anyway. It's how we get there, we'll see.

"I'm very happy with him so far. He's got an entry at York, but where he goes time will tell."
