Mistaar Ready For Another Tauranga Test

Mistaar is racing in fine style and that combined with her past record at Tauranga makes her a strong chance on Wednesday.

The Iffraaj mare is in great touch at present and while she moves up in grade to tackle the Rating 85 Lion Red-Tauranga Citizens’ Club 1600 she meets a field that lacks exposed form.

Trained by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, Mistaar has already bagged three wins during her current preparation, which successfully kicked off of the track with a first-up defeat of the progressive Addictive Habit.

She was ridden on that occasion by Craig Grylls, who renews his association with the four-year-old on Wednesday after Mistaar was ridden to more recent victories at Te Teko and Ellerslie by Danielle Johnson.

The topweight Old Drumble was third in an open handicap three runs back and has been unplaced since, although he didn’t receive the best of runs at Ruakaka before he failed in the John Grylls Classic.

A drop back in distance at Tauranga to a mile, which he has proved his best trip, should suit him while Kapsboy is better than recent efforts might suggest.

Stakes placed as a two-year-old and a winner at Tauranga last season, his task will be made a little easier by the three kilo claim of the promising apprentice Ulrika Holmquist.
