The Money Trail – Canberra, June 9

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Friday’s meeting at Canberra.

Alfden (Race 1) is a well-supported favourite at $2.15 having shortened 75 cents since markets opened. He was strong in winning over this distance on the all weather last start and the punters are banking on him doing it again.

Bare Foot Babe (Race 2) has tightened his grip on the market at $2.50, in 70 cents since betting commenced. The filly has yet to miss a place in three starts including a Queanbeyan win and should be improved second up off a resuming placing.

Atlantic Sentinel (Race 3) is another popular favourite at $2.20, in a half point on initial prices. The gelding has been runner up at his past two outings and gets his chance to win one.

Prince Jacko (Race 4) is in a half point to $3.10 with TopBetta fixed odds and at that price is the market elect. He deserves to win one after racing consistently with a last-start fourth on the back of three successive placings.

Let It Roll (Race 5) has been heavily backed and stands alone on the top line of betting at $2.25, in the best part of two points on his opening price. The colt has been runner up at both runs this campaign and gets his chance to break through.

Dizzy Days (Race 6) is another well-supported favourite at $2.70, half a point shorter than her initial price. She hasn’t been outside the top four in her last seven starts including a third on this surface last start.

Lord Denman (Race 7) has firmed more than a half point to $3 and is a clear market elect. He is racing well with two wins a nose second from three runs this time in and looks hard to beat again.
