The Money Trail – Hawkesbury, May 30

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Tuesday’s meeting at Hawkesbury.

Wirnpa (Race 2) has been heavily backed into an odds on quote at $1.95, which is the best part of a point shorter than his opening quote. The Godolphin gelding showed promise at his maiden campaign including a city placing on debut and should be ready to go fresh off a recent trial.

Fairlighting (Race 5) opened at an each way quote but has been backed into equal favouritism at $4.60, more than a point-and-a-half shorter than her opening quote. The filly has placed at both of her runs this time in at a similar level and should be hitting her peak third up.

Kent (Race 6) is a talented gelding and is a warm favourite at $2.25, in 55 cents on his first price. The three-year-old was considered good enough to run in the Victoria Derby last spring and looks well placed at the provincials off a closing first up run in town.

Spinning Dawn (Race 7) could be worth an each way ticket at $6.50 having firmed up five points since markets opened. The gelding resumes with a strong fresh record and should be wound right up for this after three recent trials.
