Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Monday’s meeting at Kyneton.

Shamar (Race 2) is a heavily backed favourite and is now in to an odds on quote at $1.95, almost a point shorter than her opening quote. The Street Cry filly is on debut for Team Freedman and the market push must be respected.

Spend Up (Race 3) is second pick in the market at $3.80 having shortened more than two points. She is another debutante, this time for Team Corstens, and she too should be included given the support in betting.

Velonski (Race 6) has taken over at the head of the market at $2.80, close to a point-and-a-half shorter than his opening price. He won well when resuming at this course and distance and has a strong second up record.

Lycurgus (Race 8) opened as an equal favourite but now stands alone at the head of the market at $3.90 having firmed the best part of a point. He steps up in distance and down in benchmark so that could see the best of him today.
