The Money Trail – Bendigo, February 28

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Tuesday’s meeting at Bendigo.

Garrard (Race 2) is a heavily backed favourite at $1.55 having shortened a half point early. She finished second at both her runs at her initial campaign behind top fillies Catchy and Houtzen and the punters are confident that form equates to a first up maiden win.

Bella Mia (Race 3) is another hot favourite at $2 having shortened a half point on opening prices. She went down narrowly when second at Pakenham at her second starts and looks capable of further progression.

Big John Cannon (Race 4) has taken over as favourite at $4.60 with TopBetta fixed odds having shortened more than three points. He was stakes placed last spring and should be ready to peak third up from a spell.

Thelburg (Race 5) opened at each way odds but is now a $3.50 chance having firmed four points. He resumes off city form last campaign and did win back to back races on the Pakenham synthetic.

Piped Aboard (Race 6) has tightened her grip on favouritism at $2.40 having tightened more than two points. The lightly-raced mare won her maiden at Sandown when resuming and the punters are banking on her taking another step forward.
