Epidemic (Race 1) opened at each way odds but has firmed four points to $2.50 in early betting. The Lonhro filly is on debut for John O’Shea and showed ability when runner up in a recent trial at Wyong.

Il Riccio (Race 2) was a hot favourite on debut and couldn’t have done much more in romping home by 10L at Ipswich. The Gollan stable’s decision to bring him straight to Sydney is an intriguing one and has caught the attention of punters, who have backed him in more two and a half points to take over as favourite at $2.20.

Moher (Race 3) opened as the second pick in the market but now clearly stands alone at $2.40 after firming two full points. The Godolphin galloper improved plenty last time when second to the in form Invinzabeel and punters are confident he is ready to peak third up.

Asinara (Race 5) is a smart mare and punters are looking for that ability to see her home first up, backing her more than two points to $2.60. She ran in good stakes races last campaign, running third in the Keith Nolan and fourth in the Packer Plate, and won her only previous first up run.

Upscale (Race 9) opened as the favourite but that hasn’t stopped punters backing her and she has tightened her grip on the market at $2.30, in 60 cents since betting began. The lightly raced mare was a Warwick Farm winner when resuming then was close up behind stakes winner Kentucky Miss last time so should be peaking third up.
