The Money Trail – Canterbury, October 26

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Wednesday’s meeting at Canterbury.

Octavian Augustus (Race 1) has taken over as the favourite at $2.45 after shortening about 70 cents in early betting. The lightly raced colt hails from the Waller yard and should find this easier than his last two starts in the Dulcify Quality and last time in Saturday grade.

Kandinsky (Race 4) opened as the favourite but his price has only firmed up since and he is in the best part of a point to $2.70. The Team Hawkes four year old missed by a nose when resuming and having won his only previous start looks a horse on the rise.

Sugar Bay Leonard (Race 8) is another well supported favourite at $2.60, which is about 70 cents shorter than his opening quote. He has been freshened since his last run but was a winner when resuming this campaign and has been kept up to the mark with a recent trial placing.
