The Money Trail – Warwick Farm, September 14

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Wednesday’s meeting at Warwick Farm.

Drachenfels (Race 3) has super strong form lines and the punters have noticed, backing him in a half point to an odds on quote at $1.75. Runner up at both of his starts, he was just edged out by Detective last start and with that galloper since winning in stakes grade in Melbourne, he looks well placed in a midweek maiden.

High Mist (Race 4) is another well into the red at $1.55 with good early support seeing him firm about 30 cents. He takes a big drop in grade after running a luckless second in a Group 3 last start and should be suited by the step up to the mile.

Margarita Rush (Race 5) offers each way value at $6.50 after firming in more than three points since trading commenced. She bolted in when winning by six lengths at Nowra last start and her recent ratings suggest she can be competitive with the step up to city company.

Octavian Augustus (Race 8) has more than halved his opening quote to take over as favourite at $4. He is a lightly-raced but progressive galloper who won well on debut last campaign and should be ready to go fresh after two recent trials.
