The Money Trail – Mornington, September 8

Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Thursday’s meeting at Mornington.

Natch (Race 3) is challenging the favourite at $3.50 and has shortened about a half point since betting commenced. He ran a solid race on debut when just behind the placegetters and could be a better horse for the break since.

Rather Silky (Race 5) is a clear second pick in the market at $4, which is about $1.50 shorter than the first available price. A lightly-raced filly from the Darren Weir stable, she won at Swan Hill on debut then wasn’t far away in Adelaide last time and should be improved again at start number three.

Atomic Lokade (Race 9) is now inside each way odds at $4.80 after firming about two-and-a-half points since betting began. She has one of the highest last-start ratings, achieved when running a close second at Cranbourne and had run decent races in her previous two outings in the city.
